The champion of Vienna last week, Jannik Sinner starts his Rolex Paris Masters challenge today.

Jannik Sinner, the world No.2, is the headline act on the court central during the day session – in the third match, he takes on Zizou Bergs. There are 39 ranking spots separating them and 22 titles, including four Grand Slam titles, and all of them are Sinner’s. The odds do not look to be stacked in Bergs’s favour. Then again, Sinner has only ever won one match indoors in Paris.

Corentin Moutet opens the night session on the main court against Alexander Bublik – and that should be fascinating. Both men have magic in their rackets and both are very distinct characters. There may be fireworks.

Daniil Medvedev has won 21 titles in his career and all of them have come in different locations. Defending titles is not his strong suit. Given that fact, the thought that he won in Paris in 2020 may put a dampener on his chances. But that was in Bercy. This year we are in La Defense – could Medvedev win here this time? He will have to get past Grigor Dimitrov on court 1 (third match) if he is to stand a chance. Dimitrov is playing only his second match since Wimbledon after a long injury layoff so his fitness and stamina may be an issue. But he did beat Medvedev at the Rolex Paris Masters two years ago.
